About Me
Hi .. Welcome to the Black Box.
I am Catherine Rankin, a MYP Drama and DP Theatre teacher at Bejing BISS International School - BISS.
This is all a new adventure for me and I am trying to build this website as resources for me, my students, the BISS community and anyone else out there who might find it useful. Below is an outline of the key areas.
BISS is a 1:1 laptop school. I try to actively use the students Macbooks and web 2.0 tools in my classes. I have had some great successes. You might like to check out E resources or my students - eportfolios
I have been adding research links and videos to inspire my students.

DP Theatre
The Diploma Theatre program allows an exploration of Theatre in the Making,Theatre in Performance
and Theatre in the World
Gr 11 DP Theatre
Gr 12 DP Theatre
Year 10 & 9 - MYP Drama
The MYP Drama program allows for scope and development. There are four main criteria that need to be addressed : Knowledge and Understanding; Application; Reflection and Evaluation; Personal Engagement.
At BISS student choose Drama in Grade 9 and follow through to Grade 10. They have two doubles and 1 single a week of Drama

Gr 6 - 8 MYP Drama
The MYP Arts program at BISS in Grade 6 to 8 allows students to participate in Music, Visual Art and Drama. Student have one semester of Drama and Art taught two double lessons a week. Music is taught through the whole year.

Festivals
Festivals are a great way for students to explore Theatre and Drama outside the classroom.
The main festivals we have been involved in are
